pack stasis
i find the oddest moments to come back to this blog. i am in pack stasis. that is, stagnant in the very depressing process of packing.
wl says i am too neat, and sad but this is true. it has been i dunno how long, and all i've done is re-case my guitar, taken 2 jeans and some other stuff out my suitcase, and figured out i can fit a gormenghast tome or wow - my jacket! in one of those postoffice boxes (and mail it if need be). funny how i think sometimes.
let's take a mo to recap. iris and her friend oleander (nice names but wait till u see them omgwtf!) are moving in on sunday. yes tomorrow. i am as always in laggy lastminute mode. tables gone. i am typing on a shelf board propped over 4 empty boxes. step through my door and u'll see an Installation Art - an apartment morphing, painstakingly cocooning itself, into 5 (other) boxes. i have taken a/several photo/s and named it Pack Stasis, but uploading it is a hassle right now.
step through my door and u'll be greeted, first by a lot of trash. a fridge, a red upturned shelf, a black tub of art tools and an artfully open toolbox. 2 smaller boxes sit in the corner, brim-full of books. 2 big boxes take the center, flaps at all angles, each a different light and shade. behind that is a haphazard tower of shoeboxes and cds. the last big box is closed, but wait, there's more! by the side, under that shadow, 3 garments are still hanging to dry.
so my problem so far is my suitcase. have to pack Very Light, and i'll be living out of it for 3 weeks, in unopportune seasons - i need a weatherproof jacket for mad melbourne and it's fuckin bulky - and what with leaving space for inevitable gifts and fongyee's macadamia nuts? and wondering should i get around to finishing gormenghast? i'm always put off by Thick one-volume trilogies (like lotr), but a quick count shows i can do it in a week at a steady 135.14286 pages a day. easy peas. but putting gormenghast in my suitcase? stupid.
maybe i should take full advantage of these 3 weeks with city library. Riiiiiiight. right when i move. fyi city library is right in the pulsing heart of melb's coffee-in-little-lanes culture, 2 lanes away from my doorstep. and why the little conundrum over gormenghast, was the fact my boxes-for-books are full, and i'd have to chuck g in the other boxes-for-work-and-clothes-and-stuff, and that interferes with my System.
wl says i am too neat.
(who btw is taking a test this morning. please pray for her.)
